Hey there, fellow crafters!
The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! I can hardly believe it, but the pattern I teased almost a year ago has officially launched! It feels like just yesterday when the amazing test knitters shared their invaluable feedback, and I made those last-minute tweaks, thinking, “This will be out soon!”
But then spring turned into summer, and I realized it might be best to hold off until fall, when the cozy knitting vibes really kick in. And guess what? It’s officially Fall 2024, and I’m thrilled to share this pattern with you!
Oh my goodness, I absolutely adore this design!
It has such a sharp, stylish look. What makes it even better is that I chose an affordable yarn as the main color (Patons Kroy Socks), so you can create this beauty without breaking the bank.
Pairing that budget-friendly yarn with an advent calendar mini from my stash really made the design pop, resulting in an amazing hat that’s as kind to your wallet as it is to your eyes.
I’m all about projects that give you the freedom to use the yarn you already have, or suggest budget-friendly options, but also some more luxurious choices if you so wish. As a self-proclaimed “yarn snob,” I do love my luxurious yarns, but it’s also incredible to see how the more affordable options can produce stunning results too!

Psst: You can get Patons Kroy Socks for $6.99 (Michael's often runs sales...) It's a 75% wool, 25% nylon blend that will keep you warm. Combine it with an advent calendar mini, or some leftover heavy fingering-weight yarns for a great stash buster, economical project. 1 skein will be enough to knit the smaller sizes, but if you get it on sale, you might want to stock up on that and get 3 or 4, and knit the matching Point Reyes Cowl with it ;)
Releasing patterns is no small feat. My life is quite the whirlwind with little ones at home and juggling a full-time job (not to mention my adventures in the Sierras!).
Every pattern I publish is a labor of love—crafted by me, sometimes knit several times over, meticulously written down, copy-edited, tech-edited, and test-knit before it’s finally ready for you all to enjoy. Now that the hard work is done, let’s celebrate this release together! I can’t wait to see the yarn choices and color combinations you all come up with.
And don’t forget, you can pair this pattern with the fabulous Point Reyes Cowl for the ultimate hat-and-cowl combo!
Fun fact: I’ve even knitted fingerless mitts using this stitch pattern before. Maybe I’ll release that pattern someday too. But for now, with all the behind-the-scenes work it takes to bring a pattern to life, I hope you’ll understand if I take a little break to dive into some of my own knitting projects.
This is the only photo I could find of the fingerless mitts in a matching pattern 😱 ! If I manage to find the actual finished mitts, I'll snap some pictures and update this post. Meanwhile, here's a picture of another Point Reyes Hat I knit called V2, but got carried away so it was too tall in EVERY section! Lol. Let's just say I learned a lot from this one, and made all the updates to the pattern so that you knitters don't make my mistakes!
Knit on, my friends!
